TOULON
The view from our Cruise Ship, when we landed in Toulon.
Encontramos os Elderes, um era da espanha outro americano.
Above was our first Olive tree we saw on the trip.
This was the Square right in front of the train station in Toulon.
We had some time to kill before our train ride so we were exploring the streets next to the train station.
We left Toulon unsure if we were going to a different city or not.. So on the port we got a map of the city and figured people would speak English.. Nope. Nobody spoke English.
But we wanted to be adventurous and take the train to Marseille. The second biggest city in France.
Somehow we communicated with gestures, English/ Spanish/ Portuguese and little French words and managed to get to the train station. One super nice French lady actually decided to come with us and take a different bus in order to show us where the train station was. So nice! There was a different couple from the cruise that wanted to join us, they also were going to Marseille on their own.
These are some of our bus ride pictures:
The Train Station:
We made it! There we figured what train we were going to take.
Marseille here we come. The train ride took about 1 hour.
Place de la Liberté
Upper town
This vast square located in the upper Haussmannian quarter forms the hub of the city and is bordered by a cinema, theatre, cafés, restaurants and major stores… At its centre stands the impressive “Fontaine de la Fédération” fountain (1889), created by the Allar brothers. The magnificent façade of the Grand Hôtel (1869), now home to the new Théâtre Liberté, is also well worth a look.
Train ride to Marseille:
Sanary Sur-Mer, France
Back to Toulon:
Having a delicious Crepe.
We had one with Cheese and Ham. We also had one with just Nutella.
Walking around Toulon, making our way back to the Port.
Charming little streets and fountains.
Musicians were playing, little shops, little market.
So romantic and so charming!
Flower Market and shops.
That's our Cruise Ship.
Toulon Côte D'Azur
I really wanted to go to the Lavender fields in Aix de Provence, but they had already harvested the lavenders in August. Regardless, I knew I wanted to buy some lavender oils and I also got two homemade soaps.
