We are engaged!

Remember that contemporary art gallery we went to on our first day to Jackson? Well it was the same gallery where Scott proposed. Before the proposal we went for brunch at a super cool-hip local place called Lotus Cafe.  This place is super well known for people that live in Jackson and love to go for the freshness and all the organic food they have there. We had a delicious brunch and walked over to the gallery.

This is going to sound crazy but two years before I met Scott I had a dream about this awesome proposal. At the time, I thought it was just a dream and a good idea. I seriously thought it was the best idea I have ever had. So after receiving a blessing of being "set apart" for one of my callings at church I wrote down the blessing on June 6th 2010. It contained so many of what my patriarchal blessing said. I knew it was the Lord that was talking to me. Few days after, June 13th 2010. I recorded the blessing and the dream on my journal. Since it had been so long I finished writing on the journal and I sent it back to Brazil to my parent's home. I lived in NY for almost a year. Moved back to Rexburg, Idaho to finish my studies in Interior Design and until the day I got engaged I had almost "forgotten"about the dream.
In the dream I couldn't see the date. I couldn't see the artist's name. I only remember speaking English and Portuguese with him. I couldn't see his face. I just saw that he was taller than me. The dream felt so real... As soon as I stepped on that gallery the dream came to me! An explosion of thoughts and feelings were going through my brain and through my heart. "How can he know?", "Is this it?", "Who told him?" (The only person that knew about the dream was my mom, which probably didn't remembered since it was two years before! Everything happened according to the dream.
When I saw it I was blown away. I couldn't believe it. I was shocked. I would also sound crazy if I told him I knew it was happening. So I called my mom on Skype and told him about the dream she vaguely remembered. I asked her if she could scan the blessing and the dream for me. As soon as I did that I showed Scott and we forwarded to his family as well. It was a dream come true! Literally. Of course there's more details to the story but I don't share it with others until now. The Lord knew me, and he knows our desires and our hearts, if we keep his commandments He will bless us. I know this to be true. I truly believe the Lord was telling me: "Go ahead, it's ok!". This was my own personal revelation. On the other hand, you may be reading this and thing it's just a coincidence. Well, I must say it was a divine coincidence.
Of course I had to take a picture of the beautiful Barcelona Chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. I had to take a break and stop walking around the Tayloe Piggott gallery. I knew this was the proposal. I was trying to maintain calm and put all the pieces of the puzzle together.
He said: "Ingrid, will you marry me?" with tears coming down his eyes. I said: "Yes!!!" We were both so happy! I'm marrying the MAN of my dreams!

Now do you guys remember our second date? The crafts date? We melted crayons on the canvas? Well... Scott wanted to combine our two favorite dates. His favorite date was our second crayon date + chinese food. My favorite date was Jackson Hole extravaganza! haha We had a lot of quality time! I'll tell you later on the post how Scott planned this proposal.
We were so excited. March 17th, 2012! We got engaged!! Someone got lucky on St. Patrick's day! We went to a Symphony concert.  That was really fun, I was so excited! I was engaged to the person I loved the most! Woohoo!!
After our engagement we went to the National Museum of Wild Life, in Jackson.

After the museum we had an amazing dinner at Amangani Resort the design it's super cool. It has a cabin feel to it but it's super contemporary. The view is breathtaking and the food is spectacular!

The interiors. This guy was playing live music and he was so good! After dinner we sat by the fireplace and enjoyed the lovely music.
The restaurant was so excited we were having our engagement dinner there and they brought us delicious chocolate covered strawberries!

My handsome fiance! Look at our amazing dishes:

Now here is Scott's thought process to create this piece of art! He asked his sisters and mom what he should do. He was thinking about something big, but it wouldn't be meaningful for us. He told me he had the idea one day after coming home from school, while he was driving. He suggested that we should go to Jackson one more time before the semester was over and I agreed. He wanted to go on a Wednesday so that He would have enough time to ask my parents permission and also prepare everything. We were talking on a Friday and I said " I can't Wednesday I signed up for a gateway seminar! Which is only 2% of your grade!" haha. I said  "The only day we have is tomorrow, Saturday." So, we said goodbye at around 9:30pm and he ran to the store to get the supplies. He was up until 4am. (Poor Baby!)
He also called the art gallery that week asking if he could propose on Wednesday. After he left my house that night he contacted the gallery and said it had to be the NEXT day. The people in the gallery were stoked! They sent him the floor plan so that he could know where it would be placed and also the length of the canvas he needed to get. WHILE, we were on our BRUNCH. He texted someone at the gallery and they went to his car (which he left un-locked). They grabbed the art piece from his truck and placed on the back wall of the gallery!!! G E N I U S, wasn't it?

  1. Wow Ingrid! Totally out of a movie! What an amazing story... You guys make a beautiful couple and it is evident that you were made for each other. What an amazing gift you were given to have a glimpse of the future. Heavenly Father does guide us and it is clear how He guided you! Lovely, just lovely!

On a side note, I love how you're recounting your story retroactively. I should do the same... I recently decided to register our life as a couple, but I have blogged curent events amidst old ones. It kinda drives me crazy, and I've been discouraged to keep it up, but your neat and organized blog inspired me to go back, fix it and keep going. I have too many relatives and friends in Brazil who would be disappointed if I don't, and I would too in the future. Keep it up!!
